After a decade spent searching the world for exceptional pens, we set out to design the ideal pouch to carry your favorite writing instruments wherever you go.
Crafted entirely in Japan in partnership with Anything Co, a company renowned for producing maekake—traditional Japanese workwear used for over 200 years—this pouch reflects a blend of heritage and functionality. Maekake aprons, tied around the waist, have long supported Japanese workers, providing both utility and back support. Anything Co still weaves its richly textured, indigo fabric on looms over a century old.
For this pouch, we chose the thickest maekake fabric, ensuring durability and a beautiful texture. We also incorporated the signature maekake belt, ingeniously repurposed to secure your pens within the pouch, making it both practical and deeply rooted in tradition.
Founded in 2000 by entrepreneur Kazuhiro Nishimura, Anything has been making maekake since 2004. The company still uses the traditional method of production in Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture, which is the last and only remaining place of production in Japan. It is home to nine shuttle looms that were made over 100 years ago, continuing to make authentic, high-quality MAEKAKE for people in Japan and around the world.
