The founders

Matteo Carrubba & Angela Tomasoni, founders of Write Sketch &.

Both Politecnico di Milano graduates, with early careers shaped at the ateliers of Mario Bellini and Marc Sadler, Matteo Carrubba and Angela Tomasoni channelled a decade of Italian design, fashion and graphic culture into something tactile, playful, and unmistakably their own.

A love letter to the 1980s

Write Sketch & started as a tribute to the postmodern movement that defined 1980s design: the Memphis Group, Ettore Sottsass, the clashing palettes and frenetic geometries that turned everyday objects into manifestos. The debut Super! Collection, four notebooks named Super! Joy, Super! Squared, Super! Sprinkles and Super! Confetti, captured that spirit: colourful, ironic, pattern-saturated, and proudly noisy in the best possible way.

Avant-garde aesthetics, Italian craft

From day one, every product has been 100% Made in Italy. Notebooks are printed with Pantone inks on Fedrigoni paper, thread-bound so each page lies flat at 180°, and finished with a hot gold-foil logo on both covers, because a Write Sketch & notebook should never have a wrong side. Over the years the collection has grown beyond paper goods to include pocket A6 sets, metal notebooks with embossed patterns and metallic edges, decorative papers, and tote bags. Same obsession with quality. Same eye for the detail nobody else would bother with.

A new chapter with ROBINSON

ROBINSON's relationship with Angela and Matteo began in 2015, during the company's very first participation at Maison & Objet in Paris. Since then, what started as a professional connection naturally grew into a long-standing friendship, built on shared values: creativity, independence, attention to detail, and a deep respect for well-designed objects.

After many years dedicated to developing WRITE SKETCH &, Angela and Matteo decided to step away from the brand in order to focus on their new project, MULTITUDES, a bag brand that reflects their evolving creative vision.

From 2026, WRITE SKETCH & enters a new chapter. The brand no longer produces its own stationery collections. Instead, it becomes a curated shop dedicated to writing instruments, paper, and the objects that share a working surface with them: pens, inks, notebooks, storage pieces, clocks, lamps, and carefully selected desk accessories.

Each object is chosen one by one, with the same eye for colour and composition that has always defined WRITE SKETCH &. The selection will continue to grow as ROBINSON introduces the brands it works with most closely, while preserving the visual spirit and creative sensitivity that made the name so unique.

A working desk is still a still life one sits at every day. It still deserves a palette. WRITE SKETCH & continues to be guided by the same obsession running through everything: colour, composition, and the way objects sit beside each other on a table.

For ROBINSON, the acquisition of WRITE SKETCH & represents both a continuation and a new direction. The ambition is to preserve its original spirit while opening the brand to a wider universe of carefully curated objects for the desk, the studio, and everyday creative life.
