Right of Withdrawal (14 Days)

In accordance with EU consumer law, you have the right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days without giving any reason.

The withdrawal period expires 14 days after the day you, or a third party designated by you (other than the carrier), take physical possession of the goods.

To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must notify us by email at:

After notification, the item(s) must be returned within 14 days.

Effects of Withdrawal (Refunds)

If you withdraw from your purchase, we will refund:

  • the price of the returned item(s), and

  • the cost of the cheapest standard delivery option offered at checkout, as required by EU law.

If you chose a more expensive delivery method (express, priority, etc.), the price difference is not refundable.

Refunds are issued within 14 days from the day we receive the returned goods or proof of shipment, whichever comes first.

Refunds are made using the same payment method used for the original transaction, unless expressly agreed otherwise.

Return Conditions

Returned items must be handled only to the extent necessary to assess:

  • their nature

  • their characteristics

  • their functioning

This corresponds to the level of handling permitted in a physical retail store.

The consumer may be held liable for any diminished value resulting from handling beyond what is necessary, provided these conditions were clearly communicated prior to purchase, in accordance with EU law.

Items must be returned with all accessories, properly protected and securely packaged.

Important Information for Writing Instruments

This section applies to all writing instruments sold on writesketchand.com, including but not limited to:

  • fountain pens

  • rollerball pens

  • ballpoint pens

  • dip pens

  • mechanical pencils and similar instruments

You may inspect a writing instrument as you would in a shop.

However, any use involving ink or writing exceeds normal inspection, including:

  • filling the pen

  • dipping the nib

  • installing an ink cartridge or converter

  • writing tests

  • presence of ink or residue

These actions permanently alter the product.

In such cases:

  • a deduction for loss of value may apply, or

  • if the item cannot be resold, the refund may be refused

This is compliant with Article 14(2) of Directive 2011/83/EU.

Return Shipping Costs

Change of mind

Return shipping costs are borne by the customer.

Defective, damaged, or incorrect items

If the item is defective, damaged, or incorrect, we will cover the return shipping costs or provide a prepaid return label once the issue has been confirmed.

Deductions for Diminished Value

A reduction in the refund may apply if the returned item:

  • shows signs of use beyond normal inspection

  • contains ink or residue

  • is missing accessories or components

  • is scratched, damaged, or modified

  • is returned in damaged or incomplete packaging

You will be informed of any deduction before the refund is processed.

Products Excluded from Withdrawal or Return

In accordance with EU law, the following items cannot be returned:

  • personalised or custom-made items

  • sealed goods that cannot be returned for health or hygiene reasons once opened

These exclusions are permitted under Articles 16(c) and 16(e) of Directive 2011/83/EU.

Exchanges

We only replace items if they arrive defective or damaged.

This does not affect your statutory right of withdrawal.
