A pen rest is an essential companion for writing: a place to rest your pen during moments of pause, and a familiar presence that brings a sense of order to your writing space.
Our wooden pen rest was designed to complement your pen and pair effortlessly with pens of all kinds. Part of a series featuring walnut, indigo dye and lacquer, this pen rest showcases walnut’s deep brown hue and naturally expressive grain.
Simple yet considered in function, it supports the body of the pen, not just the nib, for peace of mind, even when still inked.
The round shape effortlessly blends into any space, whether in use or at rest, while the asymmetrical curve ensures your pen will naturally settle without rolling away.
The pen rest is crafted by Wakaba Kagu, a furniture maker based in Fuchu, Hiroshima Prefecture. Since its founding in 1947, the company has been making furniture rooted in the region.
The pen rest utilises timber offcuts from furniture production, otherwise a waste material.
Initially a concept behind our nib holders, the repurposing of furniture offcuts is now a part of our pen rest production in an effort to minimise waste.
